Suspending trusses and other heavy loads is within the event industry subject to a large number of norms and standards. These serve the purpose to increase the safety for guests and employees. Especially when it comes to special circumstances, like changing weather conditions or fire. That's the reason trusses are always suspended with the help of a steel cable, the so called 'steel' or 'soft steel'. In case of a fire these cables won't melt. This in contrast to nylon slings. Back in the days thick and stiff steel cables were used to mount truss to hoists. These steels are very reliable, but often damage the truss. At a later stage, these steels were equipped with a plastic cover. Better for the truss, but not ideal in case of a fire. The plastic would melt and harm people standing below.

Development Soft steel

Luckily the steel got developed further and now there is the soft steel. This newer type of steel is a flexible hoisting sling. This product has the same load capacity, but is internally fabricated with many thin steel cables. The cover around it, is designed that in case of a fire, it will not melt, but scorch away. This soft steel, in combination with a shackle and hoist, will be all the materials you need to suspend trusses at event venues.
